In 2024, the Yellow Jackets had a historical run, setting a program record with 15 wins and earning a trip to the program's first ODAC Championship Game. En route to the title game, RMC was the #5 seed and defeated rival Hampden-Sydney on the road and then stunned top-seed Washington and Lee in Lexington. The accolades piled up for Sheridan and RMC, earning eight all-conference honors, including Sheridan's first ODAC Coach of the Year nod. Sheridan coached three All-Region and three All-American players in 2024, as well as two Scholar All-Americans.
Sheridan over his past two seasons in 2022 and 2023, he has led the program to double digit wins. The Yellow Jackets recorded 23 wins with 11 in 2022, and 12 in 2023 under Coach Sheridan in the past two seasons. RMC tied the program record in 2022 with seven ODAC wins, and did it again the following year. Sheridan also led the Yellow Jackets to their third straight ODAC tournament appearance, which is the third time he's done that in his tenure at Randolph-Macon. In this two season span, Sheridan has coached nine All-ODAC team selections, three All-District selections, two All-State selections, and five All-American selections.
In the 2020 season, Sheridan and the Yellow Jackets got off to an amazing start by going undefeated throught the first seven games. The 7-0 start was the best for the program since 1989. The season was unfortunately cut short due to COVID-19.
Randolph-Macon set program records in 2019 finishing the regular season at 13-4 overall and 7-3 in conference play which placed them in the top 20 of the NCAA regional rankings and sent them to the ODAC tournament for the third straight year. This team featured a program first USILA All-American in junior defensive midfielder Tyler Flora, who was also selected to the IMLCA All-Region and VaSID All-State teams along with junior defenseman Camden Stramanak. The Yellow Jackets defense finished 10th in the NCAA in goals against average (7.56) in 2019. It also featured its first ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in junior attackman Brendan Markovic who was also recognized on the Google Cloud Scholar All-America team. They added a program high 7 All-ODAC selections to their accolades in 2019.
In Sheridan’s first nine years after the 2019 season, he has led the team to winning seasons in six of them, adding double digits to the win column in each of the last two years and 3 out of the program’s 4 seasons with 10 or more wins. They have reached the playoffs in seven of those nine years and reached the semi-finals in 2013. After a record setting season in 2019, and with 5 of their 7 all-conference players returning, Coach Sheridan is excited about what is to come for his program in 2020 and beyond.
Randolph-Macon has also been successful academically under Sheridan’s leadership as he has made that a priority, raising the team GPA by .81 up to a 3.0 since he arrived. He has coached 4 Scholar All-Americans and had the programs first ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the year in 2019. He also had the graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA at RMC on his team in 2018.
Off the field, the Yellow Jackets have participated in the RMC Men's Lacrosse Holiday Toy Drive each of Sheridan’s nine years and brought over 1,000 cans to the campus food drive in 2018.
Sheridan is currently serving on the IMLCA Regional All-American Committee, having previously served as the ODAC representative on the USILA All-American Committee (2012-15) and was a member of the IMLCA Advisory Committee (2014-17).
Sheridan arrived in Ashland after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Goucher College. As a member of Kyle Hannan's staff with the Gophers, Sheridan spearheaded all phases of the program that posted a 24-9 overall record during his time there. In 2010, Goucher went 14-4, averaged 6.89 goals against & captured the Landmark Conference Championship advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Sheridan served as the Gophers' defensive coordinator, while working with the goalkeepers and face-off specialists as well. Sheridan mentored 12 All-Landmark Conference selections as well as two All-Americans. Off the field, Sheridan was responsible for all aspects of recruiting, scouting and the Gophers strength & conditioning program.
Prior to joining Hannan at Goucher, Sheridan broke into the coaching ranks at his alma mater, Salisbury University, serving as an assisting coach for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. During that time, the Sea Gulls went 45-0 and captured two National Championships. Sheridan was involved in all aspects of the SU program that featured 17 All-Americans and two National Players of the Year during that time.
As a three-year player at Salisbury, Sheridan helped the Sea Gulls to a 60-1 overall record, including National Championships in 2004 and 2005 & another Championship game appearance in 2006. Sheridan graduated from Salisbury with a degree in Graphic Design and was recognized with the Salisbury University Athletic Department Academic Achievement Award in 2006.
